About Us.

Silviterra was founded with a mission to demonstrate that sustainable forestry can be both ecologically responsible and economically viable. Our operations began in 2007 with a passion for Costa Rica’s forests and a commitment to protecting them. By cultivating fast-growing trees like Gmelina arborea on short term rotations, we reduce pressure on natural forests and provide a renewable resource for the timber industry.

Over the years, we’ve built a fully integrated company that oversees every part of the process: from planting improved seed stock, to land management, harvesting, milling, and product transformation. Today, we manage over 1,200 hectares of plantations and protect over 700 hectares of natural forests. Our mill in Santa Rosa de Pocosol is the heart of our operations, employing local talent and driving rural economic development.

Silviterra is 100% Costa Rican owned and operated. In 2024, our founders became naturalized Costa Ricans, reflecting a long-term dedication to the people, forests, and future of this country.

At Silviterra, our work goes beyond trees. We believe that innovation, education, and sustainability are deeply interconnected—and essential for the future of forestry in Costa Rica and beyond. We invest in applied research and continuous learning to improve how we grow, harvest, and transform tropical wood, with a firm commitment to regenerative silviculture. By collaborating with local communities, universities, and technical partners, we help train the next generation of forest stewards while advancing sustainable practices across the sector.

As the world looks for low-impact alternatives in construction, responsibly sourced wood has a vital role to play. When used appropriately, timber becomes a renewable building material that stores carbon, reduces reliance on energy-intensive materials like concrete and steel, and supports healthy, breathable living environments. After over a decade of research now our thermo-modified wood and kiln-dried lumber have been designed and developed for a modern, climate-conscious construction industry and consumers — ideal for both residential and commercial projects seeking performance, durability, and sustainability.

From regenerative silviculture to low-impact manufacturing and buidling products, our approach is rooted in building a smarter, more resilient forestry and contruction model—one that benefits both people and planet for the long term.
